Willow sculpture for the garden, Saturday 18th June 2016

Willow is a fabulous material for sculpture. It lends itself particularly well to birds but you can try other animals or human forms. From traditional sculpture such as a pheasant to more contemporary sculptures such as balls or squares – you are free to make whatever you fancy. Free form sculpting is positively encouraged!

The garden is a source of inspiration for plant-like sculptures such as flowers or trees, fruit or vegetables. We also have a very active fauna that  freely roams such as deer, pheasants, woodpeckers, pigeons and squirrels.

Think of an idea and bring it with you, or design something on site and  and local basket-maker and willow artist, Judith Needham, will teach you the techniques you need to make something amazing for your garden. A willow sculpture can be a focal point in a small courtyard corner or become something rather majestic in a larger one. Whatever the size, whatever you make, it will be something very special.

All material is supplied including tools, just do not wear gala attire on the day, willow making is a messy business! 🙂 And remember to bring a car that can fit your finished sculpture!

n.b. This is not a living willow workshop.>
