Do you know what to do in the garden for July and August? if the answer is no then join us for a short burst of information, tips and ideas. If gardening is new to you or you just need to brush up on techniques and processes then join us for a series of practical workshops every two months where we share with you the seasonal tasks you can do in the garden. These workshops encompass the whole of the garden such as trees, hedges, shrubs, herbaceous perennials, annuals, bulbs, herbs and fruit and veg.

In this morning workshop we look at how to keep the season going by sowing and planting more vegetables, taking cuttings, watering how and when, summer pruning fruit trees, shrubs and trees too and let's not forget hedges!  Seed collecting starts in earnest and we show you hown as well as discussing autumn planning your veg plot. Try out all our tips and ideas, and learn from the knowledge we have gathered over the years to ensure you feel confident and enjoy your garden every month of the year. Small gardens, larger gardens and gardening in pots and containers are all covered. The latest scientific research and findings are discussed. This is a hands-on workshop.

  • Additional Description
    This workshops will entail seasonal tasks such as taking cuttings, planting outside, watering and how to ensure your plants/herbs/veg do not run to seed, we also show you how to summer prune trained forms of fruit trees and shrubs such as apple, pear, gooseberries and many others.

    This month is also the start of the harvest for many shrub fruit so we show you how to keep them longer than usual by drying or bottling. We also demonstrate how to plan for winter with vegetables to sow now for a bountiful harvest in the coldest months!

    Key vegetables this month are winter brassicas, leeks, endives and radicchios, radishes, turnips, garlic and onions and how to keep them through the summer and winter months, including fruits like strawberries, raspberries and currants as well as figs.
